NEWSLETTER - AUGUST 2024

Dear One,

How are you after this long summer holiday? The holidays have been for me a great teaching experience; a week in Italy and a week in Greece, both groups of philosophers. It’s such a pleasure to feel the enthusiasm of beginners and see how the bodies change; they become taller and stronger.

Moodra

Have you caught yourself sleeping at the desk or watching TV? Do you not straighten up and take a deep breath. In doing this your vibrations lift.

Moodras are not just of the hands – but the whole body.

Watching our daughter Karuna rowing in the “Head of the River” race in Oxford it was obvious which team had won. The losers were crumbled over their oars, and winners with their heads held high. It’s the same in most matches. The vibrations of the winning team are higher. We affect each other. For the last 4 weeks I have felt light and free from the pressure of time as we have had the privilege of Narain Ishaya staying.

You can put someone down by turning away and waving your straight arm down or pulling a derogatory face.

A smile and words of praise can lift a person’s spirits.

Brits are good at covering up. The “stiff upper lip”. The “pan face”, so it can be a little tricky to read them. The Japanese too with all this bowing and not looking you in the eyes. When teaching I had to dig to find out what was going on. Were they quietly dying in a posture? They were still smiling! They were not losing face, instead they were losing connection with their teacher – me! The love could not flow (love is to join).

When a child hurts themselves there is a moment before the mind decides to cry and then the face distorts, a big howl and the crying starts – not difficult to read.

I am so pleased to be starting term next week.

We will start gently (promise) on Tuesday the 3rd of September at 7pm and Wednesday the 4th of September at 9.45am (Teachers 9.15am), both at the Beaconsfield Hall, Shipton-under-Wychwood, OX7 6BQ.

A Day in Yoga will be the following week, on Wednesday the 11th of September.

The fees are the same. It’s £210 for the 14 week term to be paid at the start. If you have to miss a class, you are welcome to come to the other class. A second class in the week would be £15 a class.

I love your enthusiasm, and I know yoga is a great priority in your life, so Hell or high water, come to class.

In the love of yoga,

Ruth
