You might find this quote by Goethe, a philosopher in the 1740s, true and inspiring, as I do.
Commitment
“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the movement one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now.”
A friend happened to be travelling on the same plane as the Dalai Lama. He went up into first class and seeing that the seat in front of the Dalai Lama was free he knelt up on it, looked over the back and asked “How can I lead a better life?” The reply was “Whatever you do, do it to the very best of your ability.” Is this the same as being committed or giving 100%? Don’t hold back, the rewards are amazing.
We have a guest speaker, Leanne Walton, joining us at Park Place for 18th – 23rd July. This is what her flyer says ‘Craniosacral Techniques and Allergy Therapy – Craniosacral Therapy is a hands on therapy where the touch is gentle, non-invasive and subtle. Allergy therapy can offer you the chance to discover foods and environmental issues that may be compromising your health. The treatment is a synthesis of various medical disciplines such as acupuncture, kinesiology and nutrition.’ But Leanne is much more than that; she works on mind where the real healing lies. She has cured my grandson of nail-biting and myself from a sensitivity to aromas and of travel sickness. She can tell you what supplements or medicines are helpful to you and what are not.
Park Place is our main retreat this year. It is set in palatial gardens with extensive surrounding woodlands and is an 8 minute walk away from the ancient village of Wickham. Non participating partners and friends will find plenty of interest. The programme offers classes from dawn to dusk but please feel free to go off for a walk or have a rest. You can come to all or any class. Please let us know if you would like a lift or can give one.
Be wholehearted in your practice
With love
Ruth
