Teacher Training with Ruth White

If Yoga is your passion and you would like to take it further then join Ruth in her teacher training courses to give you the skills to teach in the knowledge of working with very experienced nationally, internationally recognised tutors.  Ruth would be delighted to pass on to you the skills that BKS Iyengar taught her.

Ruth runs both 200 and 500 hour courses certified by Yoga Alliance.  After the first 3 modules (200 hour course) you are qualified to teach but there is so much more to learn in the following 3 modules to complete the 500 hour course.

Ruth and John are full members of the International Yoga Teachers Association.  Ruth is a Senior Iyengar teacher, life teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga and Yoga Elder with the Independent Yoga Register.

Teacher training weekends and days are held, please look on the Residential page for more information.

Here is the training programme and syllabus outline for our Karuna Yoga Teaching Diploma Certificate. Each candidate has an attendance card, which they present or hand in at the end of each module.

As a student you will need to:

  1. establish a daily practice

  2. continue with your weekly local class

  3. go to a second weekly class, either with Ruth at one of her Oxfordshire classes or a local class

  4. do practical homework/reading as given in your newsletter

  5. attend 7 days of residentials for each module

  6. complete the coursework necessary for that particular module (see syllabus)

  7. at some point you will be required to complete a first aid course (these are held on our weekends, usually once a year)

The total cost for the 500 hour course is £2,505 inc. this is not all payable in advance but breaks down as follows:

  • An initial registration fee of £200, this covers administration, syllabus and the trainee teacher DVD

  • £95 fee for each of the 3 modules

  • The cost of 21 days and the extra TT classes on these yoga days or weekends

Extra costs will include your weekly classes, B&B, books, first aid course and insurance.

You will need to take out insurance cover once you start Module 3 and are practicing on teaching students, teaching and correcting. We recommend that this is through Wellbeing Insurance https://www.wellbeinginsurance.co.uk or telephone 01252 735806 or email enquiries@wellbeinginsurance.co.uk

Forthcoming events, practice tips and bits of inspiration are announced in the regular teacher training newsletter. There are residential weekends, days and a week retreat in the Greek Isle of Lesbos.

Guest speakers give talks on our residentials and days. Subjects covered are listed on pages 8 and 9 of the syllabus. Students take an active part at these lectures, which are followed with questions and answers.

Pranayama can be practiced in or after savasana and before breakfast on the residentials. Meditation is practiced during residentials and days sometimes after savasana.
