EXTRACT FROM “CELLULAR AWAKENING, HOW YOUR BODY HOLDS AND CREATES LIGHT” BY BARBARA WREN
Historically we have moved from being shoreline and estuary dwellers and we need to consider what we might have lost nutritionally as a consequence of this. We are obviously eating far less fish and fewer sea vegetables and all of the other foods that naturally exist in the shoreline environment. It has been seen that people who live and eat by the sea, particularly people living on islands, have a very high intake of iodine each day within their diet. They also show remarkably good health, with very low rates of cancer, heart disease and many other health problems that seem to trouble modern society. In recent times a lot of research and many surveys have been done which have come to the conclusion that we each need to take in at least 12.5mg of iodine a day either in our diets or as supplementation. Clinicians in the past have used 37.5mg a day and in some cases dramatically higher doses.
Iodine has long been linked to thyroid function, but in reality it is required by every single cell within our bodies. Iodine levels are found to be naturally high in certain areas of the body such as the thyroid, the ovaries in women and the prostate in men. Iodine is also vital for correct brain development and maintenance.
The other important aspect about iodine is that many substances have crept in to our diets that prevent us from fully absorbing it. These include chlorine, chloride, bromine, bromide, nitrates and nitrites. If fluoride is added to drinking water or toothpaste, then the iodine receptors, particularly within the thyroid, will have fluoride attached to them rather than iodine. A similar situation occurs with these other substances, all of which aggressively compete with iodine, displacing it from the cells. All of these substances have been commonly added to our food in one form or another to supposedly improve its quality or to make it safer to consume.
We also live with a much higher level of background radiation than in the past, especially since the advent of mobile phones and Wi-Fi. This causes a high amount of electromagnetic interference, which disrupts the charge around our cell membranes and has profoundly negative effects on the whole of our endocrine systems. Iodine is a natural antidote to radiation, but with a generally low intake of iodine and a high intake of iodine suppressors (fluoride, chlorine etc.,) we have little resistance to the many side effects of this man-made disruptive energy.
Iodine is also important, particularly in the ovaries of women, in controlling excessive synthetic oestrogens that have also crept into our food chain. These are found within the plastics in our environment, many of which are used in our food packaging. These substances leach into food and mimic our natural oestrogens, causing a huge hormonal imbalance that without
Sufficient iodine we can do little about.
Over the past hundred years many eminent doctors have become aware of this fact and have published their findings. These include Dr Max Gerson and Dr Derry, who both used iodine as an integral part of their successful treatment of cancer and more recently Dr Abraham and Dr Brownstein.
We are currently living in a situation where the vibration of the Earth is consistently speeding up and as we have seen throughout this book, we need to match our own vibration with that of the macrocosm. It is known that the speed of our metabolism is intrinsically linked to the thyroid and there are signs in our Society that many people have an under-functioning thyroid. Lower than normal body temperature is a clear sign of this, but so too are the vast numbers of people taking synthetic thyroid hormones. The research by the above mentioned doctors clearly points to iodine deficiency as the root cause of these problems.
Pharmaceutical companies have long been lobbying for a reduction in the upper safety limits for all supplements and have proposed the upper safety limit for iodine is 0.5mg. This is 96% below the minimum daily intake recommended by these physicians and clinicians who have had so much success using iodine as an integral part of their treatment of a wide variety of health problems. If this becomes law I have no doubt that the spiralling levels of underactive thyroid, oestrogen linked cancers and the many other health problems that have been shown to be linked to iodine deficiency will continue to rise. This of course is financially highly beneficial to the pharmaceutical companies which provide synthetic thyroid hormones, oestrogen suppressing drugs and chemotherapy drugs, all of which have deeply worrying side effects.
It is my opinion that iodine is fundamental to human health and especially important to brain function. I see the suppression of iodine as an attempt to prevent us from fulfilling our potential and as a means of maintaining the status quo of the pharmaceutically driven medical profession. Every time I see a new piece of research that backs up the view that iodine is vital for health, I also see a piece of “news” about how dangerous this natural substance is. Although I am not one for conspiracy theories, I clearly see that we are being given contradictory and confusing information and have to ask why? Once again the only answer is to take personal responsibility for discovering the truth for ourselves.
It is helpful to take selenium with the iodine and this can be found naturally in Brazil nuts. It would be beneficial to take one Brazil nut with your iodine drops.
